Todd Kolb -- Minnesota PGA Teacher of the Year and Coach to Major Champions
Dear golfer:

You’re here because you want a better short game.

I’ve got just the thing – and I can’t wait to show it to you.

But I need you to do something first:

Forget what you think a wedge should look like.

The teardrop shape.

The narrow sole.

The thin top line.

Erase them from your mind.

If it’s easier, just pretend you’ve never actually seen a wedge.

Done? Good.

You’ve taken the first step in preparing for what’s to come.
This next part might be a little harder. But if you’ll indulge me, I promise it will pay off.

I need you to forget everything you know about chipping or pitching with a wedge.

The open stance.

The open clubface.

The wrist-cocking swing.

Toss ‘em all out the window.

Gone? Excellent.

There’s just one more step before I’m comfortable sharing the solution to your short game struggles.

Ready?

Forget the horrible shots that plague you with a conventional wedge.

The chunked chips.

The bladed pitches.

The  sh-sh-sh-shanks.

Easier said than done, right?
Understood.

You’ve got some serious scar tissue.

Most of us do.

Those score-wrecking screw-ups hit us where it really hurts:

Right in the ego.

Pride is all-too-easily shattered. Confidence is even more fragile.

And if your dignity never gets a break from the beatings…
If you continue to flub simple shots… take two or three swings to find the green from mere yards away… turn easy pars into bogeys and worse…

Then recovery is pretty much impossible.

That’s one reason I want you to forget all your past experiences with the wedge.

The other?

The traditional wedge will soon be history.

That’s right, a relic. An artifact. An old-timey souvenir, valuable only as a conversation piece.

Golf’s version of the electric typewriter.

Sorry, Mr. Sarazen.

Apologies to Roger Cleveland, Bob Vokey, and all the other master wedge craftsmen, too.

You guys did amazing work. But the wedge you created and refined is all but obsolete.

In a moment, I’ll introduce the new club that’s here to replace it in the bags of amateurs everywhere.
I have to warn you, though:

It’s like nothing you’ve ever seen.

Before unveiling it, I want to make sure you actually need this wedge.

So tell me, when you find your ball near the green, in the rough, on a tight lie or even sitting pretty, are you:
  • Terrified of chunking it three feet or skulling it into the next area code?
  • Uncertain where to line up your feet and the clubface?
  • Indecisive about how long your swing should be?
  • Unclear on where to land the ball?
  • Clueless when you have to adjust for different turf conditions?
Join the club, my friend. It’s a mighty big one.

Like your fellow chip-o-phobes, you’re probably also:

Itching to find something – anything – that can help you get up-and-down consistently.

If any of the above descriptions struck a nerve, then you’re definitely ready for the club I’m about to reveal.

There’s just one more qualifier:

You have to be willing to try something different.

Something that may look a little strange.

Something that feels nothing like the wedges you’ve always used.

Something that, frankly, might draw some snickers from your golf buddies.

Don’t worry. You’ll get the last laugh.

Because while they’re struggling to get on the green, cursing their luck and hacking away in futility…

You’ll be the one getting down in two, routinely…

And making it look easy, because it is easy...

When all you have to do is set up square to the target…

Use a simple, back-and-through motion, and…

Watch the ball pop up effortlessly, land like a butterfly and roll gently toward the flagstick…

For a stress-free, walk-in-the-park par.

Best of all?

Achieving such short game mastery is as simple as kindergarten math.

All you have to do is get this groundbreaking new club:

The Dune Wedge

Told you it was different, didn’t I?

Not just in appearance, either.

If anything, its performance is more striking than its design.

For that you can thank award-winning clubmaker Jeff Halstead, the primary force behind the Dune Wedge.
Dune Hybrid Wedge
I’ll tell you more about Jeff and his brainchild in a moment.

First, a quick introduction.

I’m Andrew Knack, founder of Golf Knack. I started the company to fill a void created by the big equipment brands, who build clubs primarily for tour pros – which leaves regular golfers like you out in the cold.

The Dune Wedge is exactly the kind of product the major clubmakers don’t offer. And they never will.

Jeff Halstead knows this as well as anyone.

He’s worked with industry giants like TaylorMade and Adams Golf and landed numerous clubs on Golf Digest’s coveted “Hot List.”

He’s also one of the brightest, most innovative minds in the business.

So whenever Jeff calls me with a new concept, I’m all ears.

More often than not, I’m blown away.

I have to be honest, though.
When Jeff started describing the Dune Wedge, I… well…

I had no idea what to think.

Jeff tried his best to paint me a picture.

“Imagine the clubhead of a hybrid,” he said.

“Got it,” I replied.

“Now give it the loft of a sand wedge,” Jeff continued.

“Um… OK,” I said, already struggling with the visual.
Dune 56° hybrid wedge
“The sole on this thing is three inches deep,” Jeff went on, his voice full of enthusiasm, “and has channels from front to back.”

“Sounds interesting,” I said, trying to hide my bewilderment.

Jeff plowed ahead, explaining in great detail how the hybrid-style clubhead would make the Dune more  forgiving and easier to hit than any wedge on the market.

By the time he told me about the club’s  massive sweet spot,  graphite shaft and “re-directional” hosel…
My brain was spinning like a top.

But my faith in Jeff is unwavering. He’s left me scratching my head before – and I’ve always ended up shaking his hand.

So I put aside my misgivings and gave him the green light to develop the Dune Wedge.

Still, I needed to see the Dune in action before putting it into production.
Amateur testing would determine its fate.

Among other questions, we needed to know:
  • Would the golfers get decent results when they hit behind the ball?
  • Could they execute the delicate pitch shots that are nearly impossible with a conventional wedge?
  • Would they be able to play these shots with a simple, back-and-through swing (like hitting a putt)?
  • Could the Dune perform well from both tight lies and gnarly rough?
  • Would the club’s decidedly unconventional appearance be a deal-breaking turnoff?
In a nutshell, it boiled down to this:

The Dune Wedge had to provide instant, easy and significant improvement over the golfers’ traditional wedges.

And if it didn’t?

It was back to the drawing board.

Now, you’ve probably gathered that the Dune Wedge made the grade.

The only way to understand how thoroughly it crushed the competition, though, is to hear from the golfers themselves.

Talk about blown away.

“Holy cow,” marveled David Alvarado, a high-teens handicapper, after a few tries with the Dune.

“This club is making me look good, man!”

Rob Kaufman, a 10 handicap, was surprised at how quickly the Dune brought improvement.

“Any time you use a first-time club, it’s trial and error,” he said. With the Dune, he added while admiring his results, There was no error.”

Then there was John Petrilli, whose handicap had slipped from 9 to near 30 as his age advanced and his short game declined.

“I’m confident it’ll be a game changer for me,” he beamed, “and…

“I’ll never fear a chip again.”

Never. Fear. A chip. Again.

Imagine that.

Get the Dune Wedge and you won’t have to.

See, the whole idea was to build a club that wouldn’t punish recreational golfers for their shortcomings – the 180-degree opposite of traditional wedges.

For instance, if you have a tendency to:
  • “Flip” the club or try to “scoop” the ball at impact… The Dune’s extra-wide, “Slide-X Sole” will glide across the ground rather than bouncing, creating solid contact rather than a chunk or skull.
  • Hit your chips and pitch shots too low… The Dune’s down-and-deep center of gravity adds effective loft for a high, soft carry.
  • Miss the sweet spot and come up short… The Dune’s hollow, hybrid-style clubhead is far more forgiving than any traditional wedge, so even your miss-hits will get to the hole.
  • Suffer from poor alignment and accuracy around the greens… The Dune’s center-line alignment stripe makes aiming a cinch. Just point it at the target and swing away.
  • Get hung up in the rough… The Dune’s specially designed hosel prevents grass from grabbing and twisting the clubhead, while the extremely stable clubhead slips right through.
Name a problem, and the Dune Wedge has the answer.

For that you can thank these special features that make it different from any other wedge:

1. Ultra-wide “Slide X Sole” glides across the turf – and never, ever digs

A whopping three inches deep at its widest point, the Dune’s sole is also marked with a series of front-to-back channels.

The effect is a club that simply will not snag or dig into the turf – period. Which means no more fat shots – ever.

Patrick Smith, a 20 handicap who tested the wedge, was more than impressed.
“With the Dune, one thing that was out of my mind was chunking the (ball), which I’m always thinking of when I use my 56-degree or my regular pitching wedge,” he said.

“I felt like I could trust the ground and use the ground with this.”

Added 30 handicapper John Petrilli, “The hybrid effect allows me to hit six inches behind the ball and still glide through it.”

2. “Hybrid Synergy Weighting” gets the ball up effortlessly

There’s a reason the conventional wedge’s center of gravity (CG) isn’t as far back as the Dune’s:

On a conventional wedge, there’s literally no wedge there.

By using a hybrid-shaped head, Jeff Halstead was able to push the CG to where no CG has gone before.
That makes it unbelievably easy to get the ball up in the air from any lie – without opening the clubface even a smidgen.

Rob Kaufman, a 10 handicapper, was astounded by the Dune’s simplicity.

“With my club, I’ve got to twist my wrists and do what I can to pop the ball up in the air,” he said. “(With the Dune) you don’t have to. It just popped up automatically. I didn’t have to try – it just did it.”

3. Minimal offset helps you nip the ball off the tightest lies

Compared to most wedges, the Dune has very little offset. (That is, the leading edge isn’t set back from the front of the hosel.)

I’ll let Jeff explain what that does:

“With the leading edge closer to center of the hosel, it’s easier to find bottom of your swing and have the club go under the ball. It also promotes more of a back-and-through, putting-type motion so it’s easier to repeat consistently.”
Believe it or not, there’s actually more innovative features built into the Dune Wedge.

And every last one of them contributes something to the bottom line:

The Dune Wedge turns difficult chips and pitch shots into easy up-and-downs – for any golfer.

That’s not just a claim.
That’s a promise.

It’s one I’m 100% comfortable making because I’ve seen average golfers go from frightened to fearless within minutes of trying the Dune Wedge.

I’ve tested the Dune myself and – after my initial doubts – I’m completely on board with Jeff Halstead’s radical design.
What really convinced me, though, was watching other golfers try it out.

They gathered on a sparkling day at McCormick Ranch Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.

There wasn’t a ringer among the group of 10, whose handicaps ranged from 8 to 30.

Several named the short game as their biggest weakness. As a group, they exhibited the usual flaws.

Some tried to help the ball into the air with the upper body. Some “flipped” the hands at impact. Inconsistent ball position and uncertainty on where to land the ball were common themes.

For the test, we put them in difficult but not impossible spots, often with the green sloping away.

They’d need a soft touch to get close.

Each golfer started by playing several shots with his own wedge, then switched to the Dune. We told them to try the Dune using an arms-and-shoulders, putting-style motion.

The results followed a remarkably steady pattern. It went something like this:

Golfer with own wedge: Thin and long… fat and short… fat, thin… wide of target... (With a solid shot or two sprinkled in.)

Golfer with Dune Wedge (his first time using it): Solid contact but a little short or long… closer… closer… really close…

Their reactions were consistent, too.

“With my typical club, I have to be cautious of my setup, my balance and so forth and so on,” said 8 handicap Mike Snyder. “With the Dune, I just set up naturally and swing. The club just did all the work.

“I just used a simple putting stroke and the rest was all handled by the Dune.”

Patrick Smith, a 20, agreed wholeheartedly.

“With the Dune, it just slides and glides right across the grass, pops it right up into the air,” he said. “The chunking, that mental aspect of it is not even in my mind anymore.”

Then there was John Petrilli, who once carried a sporty 9 handicap. Now age 72, however, that’s crept up to 30 – due in part to his faltering short game.

Petrilli thinks the Dune Wedge could halt his slide.

“With my wedge I would say I’m under 50% confident,” he said. “I’m gonna chunk it, skull it or do something odd. After I practice with the Dune hybrid, I believe it’ll be 90% effective and I will hit 90% of my shots (well).”

John was pretty excited – but high handicapper Norman Lansden was downright ecstatic.

“I can’t wait to play my partners with the Dune,” he said with a chuckle. “They’ll be surprised and (asking), ‘Where’d he go take a lesson?’ “

If there was one comment that summed up the group’s experience, it came from Dave Alvarado:

Dune Wedge Specs and Features

  • Loft  – 56 degrees
  • Length – 35.5 inches
  • Lie – 66 degrees
  • Slide-X Sole (3 inches deep)
  • Vertical alignment stripe
  • Hollow-head, hybrid-style construction
  • Minimal offset

“I’ve never hit a club this easy, this forgiving, the first time I’ve picked it up. The Dune Wedge is legit.”

That was just a small sampling of the rave reviews our test group gave the Dune Wedge. Let’s hear some more:

The ball went where I wanted it to go

“The Dune Wedge was easy, once I felt comfortable swinging it. I didn’t hit any shots that went over the green. Once I got the feel of it, the ball went where I wanted it to go. I’ve never had a club that gave me so much success so fast.”
Norman Lansden, 30 handicap

“Distinctive” look, confidence at address

“When I put the Dune in my hands it seems very natural, although it may look distinctive from the outside. When you look down at it, it just gives you a lot of confidence. The solid stripe is very, very nice for alignment and follow -through. With my typical club, I have to be cautious of my setup, my balance and so forth. With the Dune, I just set up naturally and swing.”
Mike Snyder, 8 handicap

Time to ditch my other wedges

“The Dune is real simple to use. Instead of getting into a pitching type of posture, I basically got into a putting posture. That to me is a lot more comfortable. I may even ditch my pitching wedge and sand wedge for good.”
Patrick Smith, 20 handicap

It’s going in the bag, period

“My favorite part about the (Dune) is the stability. On a regular club, you can easily twist the head. This literally, no matter what, it just stays straight. The Dune is in my bag. Guaranteed.”
Rob Kaufman, 10 handicap

Club selection just got easier

“With this Dune Wedge, already I feel comfortable that I’m going to have a little bit more accuracy and forgiveness around the green, so I don’t need to stress out or even figure out which club to use. I can go to this club, use my putting swing and I feel a lot more confident.”
Nathan Bowlin, 29 handicap

Next stop – scores in the 70s

“With the Dune Wedge, I didn’t have to worry about opening it up. It worked really nice. I just (swing) back and forth and get what I need out of it. The Dune just got under the ball really nice and popped it up just the way I wanted it to. I’m looking to break 80 now instead of just 90.”
Steve Schwab, 18 handicap

Glides through grass like a hybrid

“It feels like my fairway hybrid. Just the way it goes through the grass, that’s another, whole different sensation. This one I don’t have to practice much and it’s already there – lined up, ready to go.”
David Alvarado, high - teens handicap

No chunking the Dune Wedge

“With my wedge, I would say I’m under 50% confident. I’m gonna chunk it, skull it or do something odd. After I practice with the Dune hybrid, I believe it’ll be 90% effective and I will hit 90% of my shots(well). The hybrid effect allows me to hit six inches behind the ball and still glide through it.”
John Petrilli, 30 handicap

Perfect shots without a perfect swing

“(With my wedge) I just can’t seem to get the right feel to hit it high and soft. A putting stroke is much easier than trying to hit a wedge the right way. I like the Dune because if you hit it the right way, you get a high, soft shot. The Dune Wedge just slides right under the ball and requires a less perfect angle of approach than a standard wedge.”
Ed Petrilli, 30 handicap

Easier to hit than any wedge I’ve used

“(The Dune) just doesn’t dig down. It was very stable. It felt like you just weren’t gonna feel that clubhead turn on you. It definitely is the easiest wedge I’ve used. I think I’ve probably, like every golfer, tried ‘em all.”
Jason Fleming, 15 handicap
